THIS INTRODUCTION IS FOR THE IMPATIENT READER WHO WANTS A “QUICK START” TO A GREAT READ. ENJOY! A Reader’s Introduction to a Simple Act of Kindness Hello. My name is Michael Way. The novel you are about to read is an enchanting tale of love between strangers who do not want to know each other but whose relationship is judged by heaven as the only way to avert catastrophe on earth. A Simple Act of Kindness is a complex story of love and friendship with the backdrop of God deciding that an intervention is required to save the earth’s environment. Throughout history, God has explicitly injected created people into the human species that possessed both the personality and mental capacity to bring about tremendous leaps forward that would benefit humankind. Think of the Wright Brothers of Kitty Hawk fame. The Dark Ages saw the need for intervention, and God blessed humanity with Da Vinci, Newton, Plank, Faraday, Pasteur, and many others, all to enhance life. Finally, in an attempt to grant us all enough energy to thrive, grow and make earth the all it could be, we were given Einstein and Goddard, whose contributions were to provide us with endless energy and methods to explore the heavens; all of which were modified into weapons of war. Now, the elders in heaven saw that collectively, people are destroying the earth’s environment. It was decided that the degradation must stop, so the elders first searched the world for the mind, brain, and personality that could receive the formulae to reverse the damage. However, there was great disappointment in heaven that not one person living amongst the nearly 9 billion inhabitants possessed the DNA to save the earth. Next, the heavenly elders searched for a suitable adult male and female to produce a child with the DNA to match the need to pull off the miracle to save earth; they failed until a senior angel, Clarence, learned of the dilemma. Clarence reviewed the record of attempts to find the correct person with the perfect DNA. Not seeing it expanded his search parameters to include not just adult humans but all humans on earth, including children. His extensive data search revealed two children whose DNA combined 23 chromosomes would, with 100% certainty, produce the 46 pairs in an individual with the drive, personality, mind, and genius to offset humanity’s environmental stupidity. But there was a huge problem the other angels quibbled about, “Exactly how do we get a 5- year-old girl, Audrey Sawyer, and an 8-year-old boy, Jonathan Dawson, to become a couple nearly 15 years in the future? Exhaustive temporal research revealed that these two had opposite personalities and were stubborn and resistant to pressure of any kind. Audrey was self-willed and had no interest in boys, and the only thing she ever reacted to was a simple act of kindness. It was her “people” barometer. Audrey Sawyer hated pettiness, being the center of attention, and being told what to do when it didn’t make sense to her. She was a pretty little girl classified as a loner and potential tomboy as she hung out with her father more than her mom and emulated everything her dad did. Audrey is daddy’s pride & joy. The problem was even more significant than Clarence knew of at the time. Jonathan seemed to possess a direct heart-line to the Boss. He was not religious per se but extremely rigid about his principles and thought to be like King David as a man after God’s own heart. He seemed to love God with all his heart but was not religious. Jonathan was handsome from birth, and even in elementary school, little girls vied for his attention. After observing Audrey and Jonathan, Clarence decided that the only thing they had in common that would bring them together was their reactions to genuinely lovely people and their spontaneous response to acts of kindness. And so the angels in heaven watched and protected Audrey and Jonathan for years, quietly keeping them aware of the other until they both became young adults. The plan was to create an innocent scenario whereby their hearts would connect before their brain and bodies creating an irreversible bond so strong that each refused to engage with another forever. The plan was implemented and worked in a little rural grocery store where both were guided to and did indeed meet, but the shock of heart love, at first sight was terrifying. Audrey ran away feeling her whole body, mind, and soul reeling by Jonathan’s innocent overture, suggesting he wanted to know her beyond simple aquaitancehood. Jonathan also felt his heart move and, after that moment, lost his desire to become a couple with anyone else but this woman he met, didn’t know and who ran away before he could engage her. A Simple Act of Kindness is the story of an old-fashioned love adventure the way it used to be. Here are two souls who want and need each other, but more importantly, if these two do not create a unique son, life on earth as we know it will undoubtedly end within a century. I hope you enjoy my story.
